Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Art of Cloth Dyeing »

Instructions

I soaked the shirt in a soda ash/salt water solution then let it hang to dry. I read somewhere that if the dryer is used, the soda ash is affected. After stecilling, the shirt was left to dry, the rinsed in cold water, followed by hot. I followed this up with a stacked dye.

That is soo cool! I love the leaf design element it gives the pattern an organic feel like what you imagine walking through a rainforest might look like!

How DID you do that? I hope "stacked dye" is covered in the class. I have't listened to all the classes yet. This is beautiful...just beautiful.

Stacked dying is covered. Stecilling is not covered but it is simple if you thicken the dye with sodium alginate which is derived from seaweed and is available online.
