What materials did you use? I wanted to use what was in my stash, and I discovered a skein and a half of Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky in a light gray (color 0554, lot 279498) and my beautiful skeins of Madelinetosh Magnolia Club yarn for March 2012 called Stargazing, a Tosh MO (mohair). Lovely combo! Although the madtosh yarn is slightly denser than the fluffy Cascade. May have affected the final product, although being a first time stranded knitter, might just be beginner's mistake and needing practice.... Each column of motifs (little square with a dot in the middle) are coming out looking slightly like ribbing. But when I pull on it, it evens out. Thought maybe I was pulling too tightly on the strands, but when I don't pull as tightly, just letting it lay across the back, my stitches are loopy and holey.

What are you most proud of? The cuff! And how much easier it was knitting 2-handed once I learned the correct way to do it.

Thanks Mijosos-- I have a feeling that I might have to go down a needle size. The 7's were perfect, so maybe start off with 5's or 6? Go up to 7's? I'd have to add extra repeats if I do, because these fit my big hands just right at the moment.... EBlack-- thanks! They were fun--and FAST! KatMcNeil-- thank you! Stash diving has its advantages sometimes! I've had the Madtosh yarn (the blue) for almost 2 years! Nice to finally use it in a project!

Not a question, just some additional notes: 1. I think I need to go down a set of needle sizes, my stitches were just too loose on the 9s, but perfect on the 7's. Want the body knitted on 7's, and will have to figure out the cuffs. Also will have to do a few extra stitches to make up for the difference in size-- these currently fit me very well! 2. I accidentally knitted 2 left mitts (forgot to change where the afterthought thumb provisional stitches went. 3. Why do my stitches twist to the right? Notice the rows of motif are not straight! My knitted hats do this too, by the way. 4. Knitted an extra 2 repeats row-wise for length. They were really too short otherwise. In an interesting note, 5 repeats were too many in the thumb. There is a good inch and a half of space at the tip of my thumbs! No, I do not have ape-like hands. :-P 4. VERY enjoyable project! Thanks Sunne!

To help out with some of your questions - 1. If you go down to the 7 for body, then you will probably want to use a 5 for the cuff. Try a gauge swatch and see how that changes things. You will probably need to add stitches because the mitten will be smaller. 2. Oops! Happens to the best of us. You can see how pliable your yarn is, if you wear them - with the way the top is finished, you might be able to get away with it. Your join for the row won't be at the inside of your wrist on one. Or you could just knit two rights and give one set away as a gift. 3. Can you explain twisting to the right - I am not seeing it in the photos. 4. Great job adjusting the mittens to fit your hand! 5. Love all the photos with the different backgrounds!!

Thanks Justine! I should have taken a "before I stretch it out' pic-- my colorwork actually looked like ribbing!! Heh!

Looks beautiful! I love your color choice for the Sawatch. Am going to cast on for them when I get back from picking up my daughter!
