This is remarkable. I aspire to be the quilter that you are. Your hands and feet are really working together. :)

Thanks so much, 4Bird! For some reason, this class really resonated with me & made me want to practice FMQ.

Thanks so much, Ladymax! This was the class that gave me the confidence to try more free motion quilting - after I realized that I wasn't going to be perfect & just don't worry about perfection

Go for it! this is a great class - discovered spray basting & now I couldn't go back to pinning not to mention finding out that FMQ is not totally impossible

This is beautiful! Craftsy has great classes... I think I would love "drawing" on fabric like you have done! You have ispired me, and now I want to sign up for this class, also.... my "wish list" is growng! (Wishing there were more hours in the day!)

I did it, Darns! I went to Ann Petersen's "Obsessive Quilter" website and found that she had a link to get the class for half-price, so I am signed up! Her videos are wonderful! I don't know when I will actually have the time to get started... still have my July BOM blocks to finish, and also I have committed to start making "Artisan Cheese" Haha! There are just so many interesting claases here on Craftsy, and I love the platform! Thankfully, the classes don't expire!

Thanks a lot! What's odd is that I found some motifs much easier to do & others looked like I was quilting during an earthquake - takes lots of practice.

Well done, hope mine looks half as good... when I get around to it... so much to do on the "want to do list"... perhaps I should get the fabric pieced sooner rather than later? I especially love the lady bird... ooooh and look at those leaves!

Thanks, Pam - I know what you mean about the "to do" list - it grows daily.

Love Craftsy & have learned so much - as far as free motion quilting, I am still trying to learn some control so I don't have to say "why did I go there like that" so much - practice, practice

Wow..... no matter how much I try I can not get this good. Are you using a stitch regulator?
Darns on craftsy.com
Apr 21, 2012   Flag as inappropriate
Thank you! Yes, I am using the Bernina Stitch Regulator. It does help with getting a more even stitch length. The only issue I have with it is that the bulk of the BSR restricts visibility on the upper right side. Sometimes it's hard to see where I want to go. I'm now playing around with Bernina foot #29 which is clear plastic. I kind of got a feel for how fast I want to move my hands & the sound of the machine. I'll just have to see how this goes. Practice, practice & a lot of patience with yourself - -

I'm so impressed. Beautiful Job. How long have you been quilting. Looks like a lot of quilting experience.... Thinking about signing up for my very FIRST craftsy course. If this is your first attempt at free motion quilting, I'm very encouraged. Looking forward to following you in the future.

Thanks for all the kind comments. You know that what I see is the shaky lines, jerky starts & really wonky circles - hope to improve as I go forward with free motion quilting.

That's exactly what I'm seeing in my efforts too, so this had really inspired me that it might look OK in the end.
