Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: This was my first attempt at using the Wilton Pillow cake pans. It is the Med. sz pan. I purchased these off ebay and they did not come with the cone to help even out the baking so I used the # 9 rose nails and it came out perfect. Assembly was a bit more creative and took some effort. The edges line up well but to make sure you line them correctly it helps to mark one "arm" so you can line them up exactly for assembly. I used 5 "bubble" straws in order to help support it on the interior. Finished this was a HEAVY cake so I ended up using foam board of 1" not the cake board. Its covered in butter cream then MMF. The tiara is a 50/50 fondant gumpaste structure. I assembled the tiara the night before and one arm broke! I was able to re-attach it in the back by using first edible glue and then making a gumpaste patch for the back and covering it with a few additional fondant flowers. I used the extruder for my tassels and a lg Daisy center for the buttons. The beads are actually pink chocolate sixlets they sell at walmart and I just glued them on. Pretty simple looking cake but the actually construction through out some zingers!
