Style: Ethnic

Materials

I used beads and rings I made from polymer clay. I also used ancient carnelian and 1 ancient spindle whorl bead that me be Pre-Columbian. You will find brass from Nepal and Africa as well as a few trade beads, Krobo sand cast beads. I actually have beads that are ancient, antique, and modern all combined into one piece of art. II was inspired by the thought that all of us from ancient to modern times is that we have always sat fireside with friends and family . Thats the thought behind "Fireside". This piece is $250.00. www,bluedragonflydesigns.net or yukiko@bluedragonflydesigns.net

What was your inspiration?

II was inspired by the thought that all of us from ancient to modern times is that we have always sat fireside with friends and family . Thats the thought behind "Fireside".

What are you most proud of?

I am very proud of the fact that it actually hangs in 3 distinct layers! Yeah!!!!!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Laugh alot and be willig to smash up you polymer clay beads and start over wityh the same bead about 5 to 6 times multiplied times 22 beads, I think I made 22 different beads 1 bead at a tome and decorated each bead in a slightly different pattern, no 2 alike. If you are willing to do that you have it made in the shade!

seeking air dry clay for bead projects, do I paint before or after drying, toothpicks are good for holding hole spaces for threading, but don't know what to use for stringing. I was disappointed by fishing wire thread supposedly for beading from a mail order club. It snagged and slipped, crimps broke. Now they pretend my payments never arrived. I used Their envelope provided with Their return address on it.

Silk cord is what I use, I buy most of my supplies from ArtBeads.com. They are fast and free shipping if you spend at least $10. They also use PayPal and if I buy anything online I use PayPal they are safe and protect you.

You are great with clay, It is hard to tell that these are not beads from ethnic regions.

Some of them are. I have beads from Africa, Nepal, and some pre-Columbian granite and carnelian. The focal beads and rings and some of the smaller beads are polymer clay. I hope you like it.
