Instructions

Nothing special. It was a very easy project. While the name of the pattern is Firecracker Throw, there's really nothing "firecracker" about my project because I chose cooler greens instead of the hot colours suggested in the pattern.

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Classic, Casual

Materials

Red Heart Super Saver knitting worsted. I think the colours are Dark Sage, Frosty Green and Aspen Print.

What was your inspiration?

I wanted this afghan in my living room, which is done in greens, specifically those in the sage family.

What are you most proud of?

Being able to work on it while attending meetings.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It's a great take-along project. Enjoy it. It works up in three sections, so it's easy to handle. But I finished the third section well after the first two and my tension/gauge was not the same. I had to stretch it a little to sew the pieces together.

Oh - wow! That looks so cosy and cuddly! How I wish I could crochet with a straight edge - all my crocheting has to go round in circles or squares! Ah, well - we can't all be perfect!

LOL! Thanks, but none of us is perfect. If you read my advice section, you saw that it's crocheted in three sections and my tension was different in the third section, so I had to stretch it when I sewed the sections. And yes, it is easier to crochet in circles or squares. If we lived near each other, I would volunteer to help you learn to crochet in lines. I remember how challenging I found "turning' when I first started crocheting. I just wasn't getting it right. Anyway, I do have a beautiful afghan pattern (Cathedral Rose Window, or something like that) that is one huge circle. Not sure when I'll get that one done. It's a huge project (78" diameter) and I've got a zillion other projects on the go.
