What was your inspiration?

I loved taking Lola's class and I have always had a love of fairies and things magical. I saw a book called Enchanting Fairies - How to Paint Charming Fairies and Flowers.....after buying it - I emailed the author Barbara Lanza - and received permission to quilt out the fairies in the book. I just fell in love with them.

What are you most proud of?

I am happy with how it turned out - almost identical to the photo in the book with my own interpretaion. I wasn't sure if I was going to cut out a fire border and use rat tail binding - but I decided to keep it square and add a very tiny black border - I built the light of the flame into it. It still needs to be stitched around the border and I will be adding crystals to the dress and belt. I also painted the background with paints before coloring with the pencils.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Follow your Inspiration and make it your own.

I will post another photo when I get her crystals sewn on...That won't be for at least another week or so - as I get the beads in Sedona and I forgot mine at home - another trip to the Bead Store.
