HeartStrings #H55 Filigree Lace-edged Baby Blanket »
Instructions
This is much smaller version of the Baby Blanket pattern, but done with the minimum number of stitches to incorporate all elements of the corner and interior edging repeats. For the cast on, use only 192 sts, i.e. (36 + 12x) * 4 where x=1. Obviously, this will knit up much more quickly than the full-size baby blanket of 720 sts!

What was your inspiration?
Originally, I made this as a sample to do another test of the Filigree Lace-edged Baby Blanket pattern, and also to have something to show how the pattern looks done in a solid color (the published baby blanket pattern sample model photo is in a variegated yarn).
What are you most proud of?
I was so pleased then to realize how charming this little sample would be for a functional purpose as a small tray cloth or demitasse place mat. I hope you are inspired by it.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This is basically just a much smaller version of the baby blanket (as briefly explained in the project notes to cast on 192 sts rather than the original 720 sts).
Then you just make this little tray cloth like the baby blanket except do 1 pattern multiple along each edge instead of 12.
If you get the pattern and need more details for the tray cloth version, just let me know.
