Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Shoot It! A Product Photography Primer »

Instructions

Watch focus, color, post processing.

Difficulty:

Category: Other

Type of item: Functional

For: Women

Style: Traditional, Funky, Retro / Vintage

Materials

Point and shoot camera (Kodak z950,about a year and a half old but bought it on black friday sale, 12 mp, 10X zoom, 15 or so standard presets), wall of house, strange plastic chalkboard thing, products, props, photoshop

What was your inspiration?

Wanted to try out different styles of setups, see what works for what. I don't normally like the super-pale product shots, but when working with super-pale products, setting them against black or a vibrant color wasn't very pleasing to me.

What are you most proud of?

Making progress in photoshop. And getting nearer to the end of the Fight Dirty launch.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

So much less stressful when I take pictures with good light. Also having more success taking a few pictures of each scene (setting scenes before I start any picture taking) then looking at them on the computer before I continue with the remainder of the shoot -- that way I know if things look misaligned, wonky, tilted, out of focus, or if I left a really long hair all across the front of my shawl or something.

OMG, I LOVE the Shea Bar shot! It's gorgeous! Great focus, great composition and perfect exposure. Nicely done lady!
