Paton wool yarn in lemongrass and ? I'm not sure what the name of the greener yarn is.
What was your inspiration?
There's a sort of similar pillow in Alterknits, a book about knitting and fulling/felting. I really like spirals and something about the design appealed to me. I originally planned a square pillow but I didn't wash a swatch before starting and the final shape was determined by the way the piece shrank in the washer.
What are you most proud of?
I felt like the pillow needed something after needle felting the three fiddleheads. I think the knots are a nice, simple touch.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Give it a shot! Nothing to fear. I read a few blogs to figure out how to needle felt and then just tried it, tacking down strands of yarn to make the fiddleheads.
