Fiber Art Project 3 - 16"x18"

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Stupendous Stitching: Adventures in Surface Design »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Cute, Traditional, Casual, Classic

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to finish the projects I began while taking the Stupendous Stitching Craftsy course. I needed to hand-embroider this piece. I still need to practice my hand stitching and adding the rat tail to the edges.

What are you most proud of?

I completed a couple projects that I began months ago.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Fiber Art requires patience and a variety of threads and materials.

Thanks, Candis. The actual process goes quickly. The time-consuming part is trying to figure out what to use for a background, what to couch, thread colors and what decorative stitches you want to use. I've also enjoyed learning how to hand-embroider. Fiber art is very forgiving. If you mess up, you can always figure out a way to fix it or hide it. It is really a lot of fun.

Oh well done! Its 4am and I can't sleep... am about to start my stitch dictionary and you've just made my day with this and your other piece! Gotta go... my sewing machine awaits LOL!

Pam, you are so funny!!! I always love reading your comments. I need to make another stitch bible for my other sewing machine and just can't seem to get motivated. The most tedious part for me on all these projects is ironing the interfacing on to the fabric. I love the sewing and even the hand-stitching. Enjoy your day!!!
