Instructions

I made the mistake of using Heat n Bond to fuse the applique. It makes it all very stiff and hard to maneuver when quilting it. Be sure to use Steam a Seam or similar product for fusing. Also, I would suggest making sure all embroidery and embellishments are complete before you add backing and batting and doing the quilting.

What was your inspiration?

I saw a sample of this quilt hanging in a quilt shop when I was shopping for my sewing machine and couldn't wait to make it for my first project.

What are you most proud of?

This is my first "real" quilt and I was thrilled with the results.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The background is four large blocks of two different fabrics pieced together. I wish I had used two fabrics that were more distinct from each other. I think the color values are too similar. You really have to look closely to tell they are different. So my advice would be to be more careful than I was in selecting the background fabrics.

She is lovely just the way she is! Choosing different colors is what makes quilting so fun and an "art".
