What does the inside look like? Is it lined?

Pamela, this bag was made as part of the class "project up cycle: thrifty sewing projects" and did not call for a lining in the bag. However, if I were to do the project again to create a purse I intend to use a lot, then I would line it.

What was it you did not like about using your machine decorative stitches around the handle? Btw, it's a beautiful bag? I'm just finishing my first one and it seems to need something more where I have stitched the flap to the back of the bag. Your machine decorative stitching might be a good idea for making the join look better.

The reason the decorative stitches around the handles didn't look as good as that the two layers of fabric (at the handles) were moving a bit, so the stitching didn't come out looking uniform. Next time I would sew them together using a regular straight stitch.

Positively elegant and stylish. I have recently become interested in felting and have accumulated a small stash of thrift shop wool sweaters and blazers. You are definitely an inspiration to turn each of them into something awesome like your handbag.

The bag looks great and I especially love the way you improvised with what you had, using decorative stitching to make the contrast thread a real asset!

Thanks for your nice comment! After you use the decorative machine stitching, you might want to press the fabric with the iron to make it completely flat. Also, I used the decorative stitching to sew the handles together, but would not do so again the next time around. Have fun!
