CO 20. Using Magic loop, divide stitches on 2 needles
Knit for 4 inches
Icord stem section
This provides the individual stalks that the broccoli florets will look to be coming off of. I suggest doing at minimum 4 stalks. In essence you are doing a short Icord in the middle of the knitting, but not cutting the yarn. This provides some visual interest once its felted.
k4 and move them back to the left needle* repeat 7 times
pulling out some slack in the yarn, k3 stitches, slip back to the left needle * repeat 7 times

pulling out some slack in the yarn k6 and move them back to the left needle* repeat 7 times
Canopy (tree) prep
This will connect your Icords together. This section will be hidden, but it will provide stability for the Broccoli pompom ?florets?
K20
BO all stitches
Florets
Make 4 pompoms, 2 large, 2 medium. Tie securely, at least knotting twice on both sides. Attach the pompoms to the broccoli canopy above a stalk.
Felting
USE A LINGERIE BAG!! If you don?t there?s a risk that the pompoms will be forever lost to your project. Set your washer on the smallest setting, set temp to hot and add in your broccoli. Check after 5 minutes to assess how much longer is needed. If you are paranoid (like me) check even more often to make sure the pompoms are firmly attached still.

What was your inspiration?
My son loves vegetables. He once asked me for an eggplant, and got upset when I cooked it, so I started making veggies that didn't require cooking, and that wouldn't rot.
What are you most proud of?
How the florets came out
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't be afraid to shave or a haircut to get the look you are going for
