What was your inspiration?
This hand stitched snowflake candle mat is a perfect way to add touches to your home for the holidays. It would also make a wonderful Secret Santa gift. It is also great for the whole winter season. Each snowflake is free form stitched. I stitched them this way, so that no two snowflakes are exactly alike. the snowlfakes are stiched using crochet cotton #10. Black pearl cotton size 8 was used for the running stitch around the black background. The base is a red wool felt blend. Trimming the is a white blanket stitch. The candle mat measures approx. 10 inches across. I created and designed this candle mat. No pattern was used. This item was created in a smoke and pet free home.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Stitch each snowflake without drawing it.
