What is exciting or interesting to you about your photo(s)? I tried to "freeze" the fluttering of the seagulls' wings, but not too much, wishing to show some movement so that they would not appear to be immobile. There is some blurring of the wings which I hope gives the impression of movement.

Can you tell us about any special equipment or techniques that you used? Nikon D3200 DSLR camera; shutter priority; WB full sun; ISO 100; shutter speed 1/100; aperture F13; focal length 52mm; lens 18-55. (This relates to the main picture, the one with the seagulls in flight.)

lovely shot and you have given a good motion blur to the wings as you intended, in fact its looks as if you are under threat from the birds! I know the spot well and I find difficulty in getting a clear atmosphere at Felixstowe especially at the dock area, have you found the same thing! Geoff

Thank you, Geoff! I'm very new to serious photography, having purchased my first "proper" camera last Autumn, just before going on holiday to Majorca where I used it on "auto" all the time. I'm currently attending an evening class at the Ipswich Institute in photography for beginners, so am able to get off "auto" (which our tutor says is a 4-letter word) at last! I've tried to put what I've been taught into practice by photographing lots of different locations and situations but it's still a bit of a hit and miss affair for me. Yes - the Dock area is always blurry! Patricia

Thank Patz for your reply, hope you find the course useful, my son tried to get on that course but was fully booked. I am off to Norfolk for a few days from Sunday so will hope to find some new locations.

I shall look forward to seeing the results! I'm off to Penzance on Tuesday, so hope to produce some Cornish "masterpieces" - lots of pictures of boats, I expect!
