What materials did you use? Cottons, satin, lace, machine embroidery embellishing.

What are you most proud of? This heart pattern has captured my imagination and I wanted to do something special with it. I made my own ruffles and added lace, and made my own pillow form and pillow. It's been a while since I've made a pillow, so took me a bit to figure out again. I save any bits & bobs from my quilting projects and always have quilt-bat left over to stuff a pillow or a toy. I did a bit of machine embroidery embellishing with shiny thread across the dark purple satin, and am pleased with the effect. The back ground fabric is actually light purple, not grey as it appears in the photo, and the lace is shiny.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Paper piecing is not easy for me. I lightly traced the pattern onto the back of the paper and numbered the spaces the same as the front to help me find the right place to sew. Also, the pattern suggests 1/4" extra all around each piece of material - this is not enough for me. It is better for me to use a larger piece of fabric so that I don't have any 'disasters' when I flip the fabric over. The pieces are only about 2" x 3" so this is not a hardship. Also I discovered that you CAN rip out paper piecing stitches. =)
