This soft and supple purse is fashioned from fabric I created by manipulating 5 layers earth-toned rayon upcycled from thrift store finds, lined with upcycled black silk. The shoulder strap and decorative bead/tassel embellishment were purchased new. The top opening has a hidden closure system (made from a carpenters measuring tape!) that softly snaps shut. Inside is about 8.5 by 8.5 and the outside finished size is about 9 by 9. Truly one of a kind!
What was your inspiration?
Too many beautiful fabrics are discarded, but they are rediscovered by me when I go thrift shopping! I love the faux chenille technique, it's such a unique way to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind fabrics!
What are you most proud of?
I'm most proud that I finished this! :) So many of my projects become "UFOs" and I also love the way this turned out.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't try to make it perfect...the beauty is in the irregularities!
