I cut out the dress from the red and lace fabrics. put the lace over the red and treated as one fabric for the straps and bodice. Sewed the lower skirt separately from each fabric and joined at the bodice and back zipper. Jacket made per instructions.Difficulty:

What was your inspiration?
My daughter (pictured) needed a fancy dress to go to a Holiday event in 2012. She chose the fabrics. We knew it would fit since I had made this dress before in other fabrics.
What are you most proud of?
During the Holiday event, my daughter was approached by many people to compliment her on the dress. She told them her Mom made it and they were surprised. She said she twirled around to show off the dress so many times, she got dizzy. I'm proud that she enjoyed the dress and felt special.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Read through the instructions before cutting out so you understand the steps. Since the lace had a shaped selvage that I wanted to use for the hem, I turned the pattern and measured to take advantage of that feature.
