Crochet cotton, size 10 - single-sided placemat: 450 yds. (412 m) white, double-sided placemat: 400 yds. (366 m) light blue and 450 yds. (412 m) dark blue; and size 9 (1.40 mm) steel crochet hook

What was your inspiration?

I am a threadie at heart, and try to incorporate snowflakes (my favorite subject) into designs whenever possible!

What are you most proud of?

I think this is a very versatile design. You could make the single-sided placement to let the color of your own table cloth show through, or make the double-sided placemat to choose your own color combination.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is similar to filet crochet, only worked diagonally to make the snowflakes more symmetrical. Follow the instructions for the blocks and open spaces to create the snowflake design. The placemat is worked from the lower left corner to the upper right corner.

The finished size is 13-3/4" x 18-1/2".

This pattern is available for $3.00 and is written in U.S. terms.
