Fall in the City Quilt

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Machine Quilting Negative Space »

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Outdoorsy

Materials

lap quilt kit from connecting threads, cotton thread

What was your inspiration?

Angela's designs are great and really fun to stitch! I found her book to be VERY helpful when it came time to work on the quilt, choose designs, and remember how to stitch them. My favourite designs to quilt were the pulleys & squares.

What are you most proud of?

I am very impatient and the quilting took a long time! I'm glad I finished it without resorting to meandering. I also did not pick out the squares I didn't like.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Practicing is obviously great but I'd say just go for it and start quilting a quilt. By the time I was done, I was much more comfortable with the designs and didn't even have to warm up. I really got into the flow with my machine (a domestic, not long arm) and got into a groove. I am seriously wanting to try a long arm now!

Impressive and inspiring, well done. I still have not had the courage to come out of the ditch but seeing this quilt has given me the impetus to thread up the sewing machine and practice, practice, practice. Thank you.

Very nice job----the quilt is pretty, and the variety of quilting to try things out played out really well with the quilt pattern!

You did a great job and I'm really impressed to see you are using a DSM instead of a LA. AND relieved!! because that's what I'll be using - a domestic. I made a similar quilt recently but I chickened out on the quilting and just did straight line. You've inspired me!

fire girl, thank you! you'll love the tree bark - it's fast and easy! because i had such long sashing, i added 'rivets' to break up the space.

Great quilt. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was Connecting Threads. You did a terrific job. And I actually have the same Angel Walters book as you I think - I recognize each quilt design. You mixed and matched them all and they all look wonderful and work beautifully in your quilt. I really like everything about this project!

Great job! I agree with you - you can practice only so long then must do a quilt to really get FMQ.
