Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Funky, Cute, Traditional

Materials

Cotton fabric, threads; English paper piecing

What was your inspiration?

Amy of Craftsy's Block of the Month taught English Paper Piecing. I looked for other patterns to utilize the hexagons and found a Celtic design called "Fairy Ring", so I used that as my model. I used my machine to appliqu the hexagons to the background fabric with a decorative stitch on the outer side of the ring and a plain straight stitch on the inner side of the ring.

What are you most proud of?

The hexagons are crisp and the corners are nice.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be patient and take your time.

Thanks! This could be fun using all different fabrics in the circle, too....

Like what you have done especially with the decorative stitch on your machine.

I'd like to do a "Stitch Bible" of all the stitches sometime, just so I really get to know all that the machine can do!
