What are you most proud of? This is my first top down attempt. As I was laid up with a sore neck, unable to do anything else, I started using the only yarn at hand while I was travelling, Patons Bluebell. Luckily a computer and printer were available so I could search Ravelry for a pattern. This is an easy to follow pattern. Navy blue Bluebell had too many knotted joins! I even attempted made up on the spot fairisle. By the time I got home I also added a couple of Alice Starmore designs at the bottom. This was my first attempt at I-cord bind off and button holes - which I will DEFINATELY use again. It gives a nice finished edge. Admittedly I had to stretch the edge of the first side completed, so I will bind off with either a larger needle or keep a loose tension in mind in future.
What advice would you give someone starting this project? Some Bluebell colours have too many joins. Perhaps use an alternative yarn. Go on and try fair isle. There are only 2 colours used at a time. Maybe make up your own pattern as I did. See Alice Starmore's Book of Fair Isle Knitting or Charts for Color Knitting to get started.
