What was your inspiration?
I love that you need less than a yard of fabric! The possibilities are endless! Beaded trim, pom pom fringe, little tassels all add an over the top element!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Jump in! I would rate this as a advanced beginner crocheter. A sewing machine is optional but preferable for doing up the side seems and hems. Straight, simple sewing. The crochet bodice is hand sewn on with a simple stitch. One yard of fabric is plenty for the skirt portion with ample left over for another project!
Sizes given in the pattern for the bodice portion are for 6 months, 12 months and 18 months. The model in the photo is wearing size 6 months.
Add beaded or pom pom fringe under the bodice or at the hem to take it over the top!
