Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. This is a study of expressions on faces for children's books. I focused on keeping the face simple and looking like the same person. I haven't much experience in character development for children so this was a great lesson! I used a mechanical pencil on simple sketch book paper.

Is the piece for sale? No

What are you most proud of? That the faces are simplistic yet expressive. (Something I couldn't do before)

What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is a wonderful Course. Personal and down to earth. Shadra breaks down the steps into easy lessons.

These are great drawings! I think you've done an exceptional job at making the character look like the same person. I struggle with that too. I also have to say that you do a really good job at drawing hands. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for your comments. I struggle with the hands and shoes. I have put color to her and that seems to help her look the same. (I just haven't had time to post it) Thanks again!

I really like your character, her features, smile and freckles are so adorable, they really pull you in and make you want to get to know her!

Thanks! I miss working on this project. Right now I'm working on a coloring book, but after that I want to work on this again. She has a step sister, mom and dad in the story. I hope to use all those little faces in the book. ;-) Thanks again. Your comments inspire me!

Oh, really nice! I saw your colored drawing first. I really like how you practiced your character's expressions here. I also like the fact that she appears to be a young teenager. Love it!

thanks! I really never focused on expressions before this class. It turned out to be so fun that I did several pages of faces. The way Shadra explains things makes it seem easy for me. Thanks again for your comment. :-)

These are really great! I'm not signed up for this class but I think I might give it a try after seeing your work. Very inspiring! :)
