This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Beginner Serging: Machine Basics & Techniques »

Instructions

I love my new tote. Thanks Amy for such good instruction and video. I must admit I did use my sewing machine to baste zipper in place to ensure I had it straight! I will be making more of these for gifts... My husband even wants one for toiletries when he travels...

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Cute, Traditional

Materials

Cotton fat quarters, polyester zipper, serger thread

What was your inspiration?

This was part of beginning serging. I am so proud I put this zipper in using my serger...yippee!

What are you most proud of?

I have been sewing now since March 2012 and I have never put a zipper in any project except dome in the hoop items... I was a little afraid that I would not get it straight, but it worked out well. Can't wait to try this again!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Watch the video and read the instructions prior to starting, relax and have fun!
