I cut out the fabric using the measurements from the print out. It was only when I started watching the video that I realised that the zip needs to be sewn to the SHORTER ends of the rectangle and that I had cut out the fabric wrong- the dogs would be on their sides! Doh!Category: Sewing

Materials
Printed cotton drill for the outer fabric, cotton print for the lining, iron-on pellon, plether trim belting for the pull-tabs.
What was your inspiration?
I asked my four-year-old daughter to choose fabric for the bag. After choosing a lining from my stash, we went to the fabric store where see discovered the dog print -her current obcession. I enthusiastically suggested a hot pink zipper, which she resisted, opting instead for the peacock zip to match the fabric and insisting that we incorporate the yellow belt trim (it's not all about me, I reminded myself).
What are you most proud of?
That I shared a project with my daughter. We had fun looking for fabric and discussing trims. It was quite a quick project so we saw results quickly and she gets the fun of using the bag. I see future collaborations.
I am also impressed with her choice of fabric and colours. Apart from suggesting the pink zip, I let her choose the materials she liked.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Before cutting your fabric consider if your print will be sideways when it is sewn up. Remeber that the zip needs to be sewn to the SHORT ends of the rectangle.
