I love selvages, particularly the ones on Amy Butler fabrics. This one worked out perfectly - I'm thrilled with the placement. I thought the leftover cutoff corners were adorable - I'm going to put hats on some of my thread spools or something. Both fabrics were ones I've had lying around for awhile. They were too small for a purse/tote, but I've been saving them for this type of bag. It was so much easier than I could have dreamed. Thanks for the great instructions. I even learned new sewing tips after 25+ years of sewing!

If you look up Selvage tote bag there is a pattern out there on a blog that shows you how to use all those pretty selvages. Your little hats look exactly like the Peepee Teepee (if you had a baby boy you'll know exactly what I'm talking about, lol!).

Adorable! I'm also a fan of pretty selvedges. :) I'm glad the project went well for you and I hope you continue to make cute projects with your new serger skills!
