Probably not a good idea to start with solid black, but that's what I had already wound and ready to knit. It isn't very consistent, because I tried all the different pick-up methods mentioned just to be "trying" them. Additional comment: if the PUKs can be called "pukes" instead of "pucks", then guess what I have been calling the PUPs- and it has nothing to do with baby-dogs. ;)

I can see right now that you are a rebel!!! But I love that in a student...willing to try different techniques "on for size". Nice work...especially with black!
