What was your inspiration?
My friend's daughter loved horseback riding, and earned many ribbons. My friend found the ribbons in a box and asked me to make a wall hanging to display a small portion of the ribbons as a birthday gift. She had seen some different ribbon projects online.
What are you most proud of?
I love the bright colors.
I printed a picture of her jumping with her favorite horse, and centered that in the project. I then framed it using white ribbons to set it off from the brightness of the ribbons. I like how that looks too!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Show ribbons are not necessarily straight and that required some extra planning. Also using transparent thread is like working with fishing line. It loops off the bobbin and stretches, and it comes out of the threading in the machine. It was a new experience for me, but with practice, it was not too bad. I did sew the ribbons onto muslin for extra support.
