I used Heather Hales' brilliant idea for a quick-to-make, one of a kind accessory for a book gift, changing only the style of embroidery (simple running stitch in place of her much more advanced snowflakes and baby chicks) and edging (blanket stitch instead of cut scallops.)Difficulty:

Actually finishing the pair, just hours before delivering them with bookstore gift certificates to a local school's silent auction.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Hunt up some bright colour elastic - the bookmarks would be even cuter!
