Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Materials

a plain black t-shirt, sheer fabric with flocked roses, beads, beading wire

What was your inspiration?

I had some scraps after cutting out a different top and the idea just popped into my head. It was fun adding the beads.

What are you most proud of?

It turned out so nice that I wore it to church and out to eat on Mother's day.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just wing it!

Wonderful when you can take a few things and make them fabulously yours. Very pretty.

the results of your trim look great. for you to put the trim on the t-shirt did you take apart the shoulder seams to put the trim underneath and sew around or how did you do such fine work? I tried to attach trim to a cotton t-shirt with no success. I wonder if both fabrics must be the same although from the picture the trim looks flimsy and seems to work. I attatched the trim on a circular neckline and the ends did not close. Any tips would be helpful. Thank you.

Thank you for the compliments. The scrap of fabric I used is a flocked mesh but it's a knit so I didn't finish any of the edges. It narrows to a blunt point at the shoulder seam. I didn't take anything apart on the shirt, just gathered and sewed right on top of the neck edge. I think it looks great, even at the shoulder seam. Sorry you can't see that part in my photo. I'll try to take another picture closer up so you can see. I'll have to do it later though because we still have guests in town until this afternoon.
