Style: Funky, Cute, Whimsical, Retro / Vintage, Traditional, Rock / Punk, Classic, Hipster, Casual

Materials

Cake, icing, chocolate fondant, roll-ups, Elvis silouette print outs

What was your inspiration?

This was a fun cake themed from the one and only Elvis! I wanted it to be funky but not child-like so i did a simple stacked cake with a few different silouette of Elvis along the sides in addition to using the good ole' roll-ups off the candy/cookie isle to cut out gem shapes and stick on the sides. not too fussy & a lot of fun! The birthday girl loved it!

What are you most proud of?

Cutting out the Elivis shapes - sticky little buggers!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take your time finding the items for your "cake - idea" file...the more time you research for each cake, the more personalized you can make your designs. It's worth it in the end!

Hi! Thank you so much. I simply found some different ones online (Google seach: silouette, Elvis) and printed them out, trimmed out the silouette and then used that as a template one the rolled out fondant. I do recommend rolling out the fondant in small sections just to fit the silouette and then place them in the fridge for a little while to chill and harden up a little - it makes it a TON easier to trim out those funny little areas when the fondant isn't tearing and ripping under the slide of the knife. ;o) Thank you!
