Elizabethan Cuffs

Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:

Instructions

Have patience. It was very fiddly to work with small double pointed needles and even more so when you had to work with 7 at a time. (2 sets of 3 hold the 2 ruffles, 1 knits)

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Romantic, Retro / Vintage, Classic, Traditional

Materials

Baby Alpaca, hand-dyed kid mohair, triangular glass beads & pearls

What was your inspiration?

I love 3/4 sleeve tops and sweaters, but when you wear them with a winter coat that has larger sleeves, the draft just rushes up the sleeves and chills my arms! These little wrist warmers are an elegant solution.

What are you most proud of?

I love the feminine look of the beads and fluffy yarn. I used remnants of custom dyed kid mohair and wasn't quite sure how the blend of the cream and light gray would look, but the end result is very satisfying. Goes lovely with my cream colored winter coat.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I chose to simplify this pattern and eliminate the picot edge at the top of the wrist warmer, because no one ever sees this part. (lots of work just for personal pleasure)

I made these in a hurry and didn't have time to search out nice, wooden double pointed needles and used what I had. Metal double pointed needles often slipped out of the work with my yarn choice. This was frustrating at times. But once you are finished working with both sets of double points, it is smooth sailing.
