What advice would you give someone starting this project? Super simple, have fun! I bound them the same way you would a quilt, don't make your binding too thin.

I just tried making oven mitts because I need long arm mitts for my sensitive arms. The pattern I had used insulbright and two 1/4" batting layers. That combined with two fabrics was way too thick to try to sew through. Any suggestions????

Use a heavier needle for the thickness of the material as listed in the guide with your sewing machine. Heavier fabrics sometimes require a larger stronger needle. Hope this information helps you or if you have an even feed foot for your machine that may also help to distribute the evenness of the materials.
