Rabbit tea towel

Instructions

I'm not a great artist, so simple line sketches are easy for me to draw, and the best to embroider.

Difficulty:

Category: Embroidery

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Outdoorsy

Materials

all cotton white tea towel, brown, green, lavender, embroidery floss

What was your inspiration?

Two years ago a rabbit finally showed up in my urban yard. Others in the neighborhood complain about rabbits eating their lettuces, so I set out a patch of lettuce just for the rabbits. One visited, nibbled on the lettuce, and then disappeared. I figured if I sketched and stitched one, maybe he'd come back.

What are you most proud of?

The violet! I like that the leaves turned out to look like little hearts.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

For embroidery patterns, use simple lines that don't require filling in to give them structure.

I like your philosophy about embroidery and your sweet story about the rabbit. That sounds like something my husband and I would do. Very nice work.
