Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: This cake was based on Marina Sousa's central pole cake design. It is important to follow her instructions with regard to the support system - I used a metal rod, washer, nut, foamcore base for the cake. I covered the metal rod with two bubble tea straws - one straw was too small so I used two and cut each along the length and fitted them round the rod. "Nest" twigs were just fondant rolled into twig like shapes and randomly placed around the cake. Other branches were supported by bamboo skewers and the thicker branches were aluminium foil twisted and scrunched up tightly and covered in gumpaste/modelling chocolate mix as I did not have enough modelling chocolate. Leaves were modelling chocolate.

What are you most proud of? To have the nest cake elevated just like in real life!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have all the equipment to hand.
