What was your inspiration?
I was just playing with different bargello and other strip-pieced patterns when I came up with this simple arrangement for a patchwork tote.
What are you most proud of?
I don't often use a patchwork handle, but I thought the patchwork looked really good on this one.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Should you wish to make a similar bag: Strips in seven fabrics were cut 2.5 inches wide and stitched in 1/4 inch seams for the patchwork. The resulting strata was cut in seventeen 1.5 inch wide strips and the strips offset and stitched for the design on one side of the bag. The bag was otherwise constructed just as most normal totes. Quilting was done "in the ditch."
