Earthy Lopi

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Top-Down Icelandic Sweater »

Instructions

I used inspiration for colors from fellow craftsy members, and chose to line this sweater and add a zipper. I LOVE the results and now that it is lined, I can wear a t-shirt under it and not be bothered by the itchiness of the yarn. It's super warm! This is my second Icelandic sweater. Loved the class!

Can you give more details about how you did the lining? I'm impressed and would like to learn more.

RepI have to admit that I did not do the lining myself. I took it to a seamstress because I am not great at sewing and I didn't want to mess it up. Maybe that is cheating??? Anyways, I bought some stretchy soft fabric for the interior and it was finished in a few days

Look how happy you are! I think lining Lopi is the best of both worlds. That is a great idea and I'm going to do that from now on! If you have been to Iceland you will know that the handknits there are frequently closed with zippers, so you are being authentic there. :) Well done!

Thanks! I just went to Iceland last month and was able to see lots of Lopi sweaters! It was alot of fun, but I have to say, I like my sweater even more than the ones there because I made it and I love the pattern. Lining it was the best choice because I wear it all the time since the liner is super soft and the sweater is so warm!

Love the earth tones in this sweater. Reminds me of Autumn. I m not one to follow a pattern completely, usually loose my place, but i would probably just change the closure on this.

Thank you! I love having the liner. The first sweater I made I did not line it and I added the buttons. I love this one so much, that I ended up removing the buttons and added a zipper and lining to the first one.
