What was your inspiration?
I designed this quilt a couple of years ago but just recently decided to make it using fabric paints. I wanted the project to be quick and easy.
What are you most proud of?
The center reminds me of a presidential seal. I really liked how it came out.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The quilting will take less time if you use free motion. But it can be machine quilted with the feed dogs up as well. For the motifs that are painted red, I used blue thread and vice versa. I also used red thread to quilt the feathers in the blue strips in the border.
When using 5 pointed stars, be careful to have all the directions of the stars coordinated.
