This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Art of Cloth Dyeing »

Instructions

I have enjoyed the class, experimented with a little cloth and now I'm ready to put the cloth to use. Thank you for sharing such easy and fun techniques. My pleasures have been outside and now I'm ready to design something. Thank you

Materials

cotton fabric dye, soda ash, salt canning jars baling twine hose tea pot of boiling water wash rack outside of barn with hose

What was your inspiration?

I am always inspired to work with color and fabric. It's been fun for me to work outside on my horse wash rack. These dyes just rinse away and I love how easy the process has been for me.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I like to use things that I have already without having to buy additional materials. I'd save little containers that you can use for the dye bath and a sturdy bucket for the stock bucket. I felt like I was making soup.

Thank you, it's hard to tell from the photo, but I wanted to show how I started with the fabric on the left, progressed by adding another color, then another to get the center piece. The two on the left I put into turquoise after the yellow,

Love your results! The flag fold piece in the center has such pretty colors :-)
