What was your inspiration?
I wanted a sister for my matryoshka block. I have made a giveaway on my blog last month, asking to participants to make suggestions of pattern they would like to see in my shop. A sewer suggested a dutch girl. I just thought it would be the perfect doll I was looking for to celebrate my matryoshka birthday! And here she is!
What are you most proud of?
Her cute embroided eyes - I had no more dark embroidery thread so I used usual thread, plus I lost my favorite needles so I had to use an inapropriate needle, and last but not least: the last time I emboider was... long time ago. So I wasn't very confident and finally I am happy with the result :-)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
As for any paper pieced block, be careful with the fabric selection: the background has to contrast enough with all the other fabrics of the doll. And have fun!
