I lengthened the tunic to be full-length, and modified the hat to better reflect the type worn by Richard Harris in the first 2 Harry Potter films.Difficulty:
Category: Sewing
Type of item: Costume
For: Men

Materials
I used drapery fabric for the robe, and brocade for the tunic. Heavy iron-on interfacing stiffens the hat. A purchased wig, beard and wand complete the look.
What was your inspiration?
The brilliant work of J.K. Rowling, of course! An invitation to a Halloween party, and a reputation for being "quite the seamstress" made me want to do something nice. .My husband edited all my ideas, and we came up with this together
What are you most proud of?
That my sweetheart was willing to go along with this!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Give yourself plenty of time, and a big budget- the robe takes lots of fabric!
Choose your costume to reflect what you want. Remember, 2 different actors portrayed our favorite headmaster, and each dressed quite differently. Mine is mostly Richard Harris, with the bow on the beard from Michael Gambon's portrayal.
