Your dress look lovely on you. Nice fit. Have you been sewing long. I have trouble sewing for myself. But I am going to try as the skirts are to short fom my liking.

Thanks. I have been sewing off and on since I was a teenager. Garments for myself however have been mostly wadders. Recently, I decided to give it a try and am blessed to have a sewing friend who does alterations. Fitting myself has been a challenge but I'm determined to master it. My friend lives over an hour from me so a lot has to be done on my own. One bit of advice she gave me has helped tremendously-- use safety pins instead of straight pins when fitting/ altering. You will not lose pins in the process of taking off and trying on. When I first sewed this dress it was too big. She pinned out the changes with straight pins ( this was all I had when I went to visit her) and told me to purchase quilters safety pins, go home and pin the changes using the safety pins and then try the dress on again. I sewed, pinned tried on, sewed some more, pinned, tried on-- you get the picture. I encourage you to try sewing for yourself again. It is well worth the effort. Good luck. Thank your for your help. Safety pins makes since!! I have my pattern and toil material and quilting safety pins, so nowI must find time to put it all together. I work full time still and time is my worst enemy. However, I do feel the need for clothes that fit. Esp. a dress, as grandchildren are of an age that there should be weddings to attend anytime soon.
