I modified the pattern a bit by not doing the long sleeves and doing tiers on the bodice with a little bit of ruffling.

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Girls

Style: Cute, Funky

Materials

Vanna's Choice yarn.

What was your inspiration?

Found and bought a cute crochet pattern for acute striped jacket called "Surprise Crochet" where it is crocheted all in one with only the shoulder seams to sew in the end. Was supposed to do this last year for a sweet baby girl in our church who has downs syndrome, but never got to it. Had the yarn and still wanted to do it but have recently got into knitting and like how it is lighter and not as think as something that is crocheted.

I started out making her the fingerless gloves because she was really intrigued by mine last week. I hope they fit-they seem small, but she is petite.

What are you most proud of?

That I got it finished in time to give her before Christmas (her 2nd birthday was last week).

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't mind the irregularities of the knitting as you can get it looking more even when you steam and block it.

Very sweet little outfit, and so very sweet of you to do all of this work for her. :)
