Made this for my mother's small kitchen table. She does not see so well, and therefore I wanted some large bright shapes for her. And a happy tone.

Hi Celia, Great idea to use your husband's ties - and you already have a built-in point for your petals! I did use a template; Jenny mentions the Easy Dresden template (by Darlene Zimmerman, from EZ Quilting), which does petals up to 8". Thank you for your kind words, and I too am looking forward to retirement so I can focus on this quilting obsession! Warmest wishes, and keep doing your beautiful work!

Hi Rosemary W, - I have been looking for a way to use up many of my husbands old ties !! Thanks so much for this idea. I can highlight the old school and minister's ties too in the centre.....Is there a template for the design? or did you just make up one? Can't wait for retirement next year to accomplis all my dreams!! Bless you in your creativity - it touches souls and can change people. Celia Murray - in Scotland.
