What was your inspiration?
I made this quilt for my mom's 87th birthday. Her living room colors guided the color choices. Inspiration for the outer border came from Peggy Martin's book Quick Strip Paper Piecing, Galaxy pattern.
What are you most proud of?
Finishing the quilt! This is the largest project I have attempted thus far. I also love how the corner stars and flying geese borders work well with the dreamweaver blocks.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I wouldn't necessarily recommend for beginners. Take Peggy's course and make some practice stars. Unless you have experience with free-motion quilting, keep the machine quilting linear. The woven sashing was easier than I thought it would be, but precise cutting, 1/4 inch seams and proper pressing are a must to get the seams to match.
