What materials did you use? Flannel from the thrift store. Cost me $.99.

What are you most proud of? Making something useful out of fabric that someone else had thrown away. My husband commented those look store bought. Little does he know that is actually an insult. These are better than store bought. Matched seams, reinforced stress points, pinked edges, attention to detail. Besides, moms put love into everything we make for our children. Stores cant match that. ;-)

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Sleep shorts are a quick and easy project and much appreciated by the recipient. I'm sure my daughter will get a lot of use out of these this summer. I need to make her one more pair.

Those look so comfy, I love the fabric.

Thanks, Karen. I think the daughter will like them, once she sees the fabric made up.

Like these, very cute... and there is no comparison to store bought. You're being too hard on yourself about the stripes. I doubt you can find a pair with matched stripes at the store these days! Plus there's no way he can beat the price! Actually looking "store bought" isn't such a bad compliment. Years ago when I sewed for my skinny as a rail son I made sure his size 4 waist size 7 length jeans looked just like anyone else's Levis and was proud to do it.

I know he meant it as a compliment, Jean, ans I took it that way. But inside I always think "store bought doesn't mean quality".
