Drawstring bags for knitting projects

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Bag-Making Basics: Drawstring Bag & Bucket Bag »

Instructions

I made these a little larger than the pattern so as to maximize the fat quarters and have a bag long enough to accommodate knitting needles.

The lining pieces were 14" x 10.5".
The exterior pieces were 8" x 10.5", 3" x 10.5" and 5" x 10.5"
The finished bags are 13.5" x 9.5".

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Cute, Casual

Materials

Two fat quarters each. The fabric is Riley Blake's "Avignon."

What was your inspiration?

Needed to make some Christmas gifts!

What are you most proud of?

Managed to do the math right to make these bigger and use entire fat quarters (mine always seem to be about 17.5" x 21").

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The drawstrings are the most maddening and time-consuming thing to make. If you're in a hurry, consider buying coordinating ribbon instead.
