the rainbow binding and that I free motioned quilted it myself
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
dont be afraid to improvise. I pieced the backing because I didn't have enough material. Use GOOD pretty thread to quilt the top but you can use good neutral thread for the piecing. I pieced the batting from leftovers.
